TOWARDS ONENESS IN MARRIAGE (2)

TOWARDS ONENESS IN MARRIAGE (2)

Bible Reading:  Genesis 2: 21-25

Memory VerseTherefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24 (ESV)

Oneness in marriage requires a daily and consistent effort where couples learn, unlearn, and relearn in humility and with a forgiveness spirit. Oneness in marriage is a lifelong commitment. It also includes:

6. Honour matters more than winning: Marriage is not a competition. When a man leads without love, the home feels unsafe. When a woman submits without honour, resentment quietly grows. Healthy oneness looks like this: decisions are discussed, voices are heard, and respect is mutual. Husbands can lead prayerfully while genuinely valuing their wife’s wisdom; and wives flourish because they feel seen, not silenced.

7. You need a shared picture of the future: Love survives today. Vision sustains tomorrow. When couples know what they’re building—godly children, a peaceful home, faithful service, wise stewardship—decisions become clearer. I’ve seen couples turn down opportunities not because they weren’t good, but because they didn’t fit the life they were building together. Oneness grows when “us” matters more than “me.”

8. Forgiveness is not optional: Two imperfect people cannot live as one without forgiving often and sincerely. Marriages die slowly, not because of big sins, but because small hurts were stored and never released. And I’ve seen marriages revive when someone says, “I forgive you. Let’s move forward.” Forgiveness doesn’t erase wisdom. It removes poison.

9. Decisions reveal true unity: You can tell how unified a couple is by how they make decisions. Not control. Not silence. Not pressure. But prayer, conversation, patience, and peace. I’ve seen couples delay big moves, jobs, or investments until both hearts were settled. That waiting saved them from regret later. Unity is more valuable than speed.

10. God must remain at the centre: Without God, marriage becomes survival. With God, it becomes growth. I’ve watched couples reach moments where words failed them, but prayer didn’t. Moments where counselling helped, but surrender healed. God doesn’t just join two people together; He keeps them together.

Quote:  Becoming one is not an event, it’s a daily choice. Some days will be easy while others may be hard.

Prophetic Decree: Let the anointing for marital ease flow into your marriage, in Jesus name

Prayer Focus

1. Invisible wall of division between my spouse and I, crumble, in Jesus name.

2. Brokenness needed for true oneness, overshadow my marriage, in Jesus name.

3. Wisdom for marital bliss and oneness, come into my home, in Jesus name.

4. Any evil handwriting upon my home, be washed away by the power in the Blood of Jesus.

5. Anti-marital forces from my ancestry causing unexplainable problems, be silenced, by the power in the Blood of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Psalms 3-4, 12-13, 28, 55
