Bible Reading: Proverbs 15:32

Memory Verse:  A lover of training is a lover of knowledge; but a hater of teaching is like a beast  Proverbs 12:1 (BBE)

Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005. He’s popularly known as Mike Tyson. At age 20, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history. He holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles. At the peak of his career, he said: “I run at 4 a.m. because I know my opponent is still asleep. It gives me an edge. This was Mike Tyson’s response when asked if he really trained every day at dawn.

Tyson added, “If I find out one of my opponents runs at 4 a.m, I’ll start running at 2 a.m. And if someone trains at 2 a.m., I’ll stop sleeping altogether to keep training.” “Without discipline, no matter how talented you are, you’re nothing,” he said. In an image, heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was captured running his daily 5-8 km routine, with reporters documenting his intense training in 1987.

Look at the life of an athlete who wants to keep his game up? He buffets his body in order to clinch the peak of his career.

What are you called to do? As an artisan, a christian artist, a producer, student, professional, or career person? Without deep discipline, you may be lost in the crowd. Gentiles can come to your light, but only kings will come to the brightness of your rising.

There are fashion designers and there are star fashion designers. There are caterers, and there are star caterers. There are pastors, and there are star pastors. There are doctors, and there are star doctors. There are engineers, and there are star engineers. Amongst several factors that makes any man a star when compared to his other contemporaries is training. Friend, are you willing to go beyond your limits for the glory of God to be revealed in your life?

Friend, are you ready to pay the price under grace? Friend are you ready to labour. Listen to the words of Apostle Paul, a star minister of God in Bible times, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10 (ESV)

Quote: If you want what other people want, then you do what other people are not willing to do.
