DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post February

Wednesday, 15thFebruary, 2017.

Bible reading: Matt. 18:1-3.

Memory Verse: “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise”2 Corinthians 10:12 (NIV).

When two people compete for a prize under a given set of rules without being diabolical or manipulative, such could be referred to as a Healthy competition. Otherwise, this is referred to as an Unhealthy competition.

Isn’t that what happens in life when we focus on competing with others, with our classmate, neighbours, friends, and even members of the same family; trying to out-do them or prove that we are more successful, more intelligent, more important or wealthier? We spend our time and energy running after them and we miss out on our own God given destiny.

The problem with unhealthy competition is that it’s a never-ending cycle. There will always be someone ahead of you, someone with a better grade, someone with a better i-phone, someone with a better snicker. There will always be a friend from a richer family, a friend with more money, a friend with a better education, etc. It is purposeful and healthier not to compete with anyone. Your destiny is never the same, so is your talents and natural gifts. Learn to be content. Stay focus. Run your own race and wish others well.

Quote: Be at your best, beat your best! Compete only with yourself.

Prophetic Word: Receive freedom from unhealthy competition, in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:

  1. I reject the spirit of unhealthy competition, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I kill every ambition in my heart borne out of envy, in the name of Jesus.
