Bible Reading: Ruth 3: 1-11

Memory Verse Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. Ruth 3:3 (NKJV)

After a very hard time in the country of Moab; Ruth, the Moabitess chose to come back with her mother-in-law to Bethlehem-judah. One day, the Lord led Ruth to the threshing floor of an unknown kinsman named Boaz. She related her experience about Boaz’s field unto Naomi who was able to discern the mysterious hand of the Lord in her affairs. When you dare to take a bold step of faith, you commit God to open uncommon doors unto you. Then Naomi told her, “Wash your face, anoint yourself, and put on a new cloth…” (Ruth 3:3). Naomi was indeed a great mentor unto Ruth. What was Naomi trying to communicate to her daughter-in-law? “Can’t you see the dawn of a new beginning, Ruth?”.  “Can’t you see God’s hand leading you into another relationship?”.

Above all, Naomi was telling her daughter-in-law, “Yesterday is gone – the painful remembrance of losing your husband and father-in-law in the land of Moab is past, the pain of being married yet single is over. Forget your woeful past, and keep your eyes glued to the new opportunity God has brought your way”. Scripturally, you wash and anoint your face when the time of a new dawn or a new assignment has come. Dear friend, the enemy of the future many atimes, is the pain of the past. Stop looking at yesterday’s defeat, that failed contract, that jilt, that ostracization from your immediate family, that failed interview, that failed examination, your missing scripts, that abandoned project, that failed relationship, that troublesome spouse, that failed business, that unruly child, that stagnant ministry, that unpaid money, that unawarded contract, etc.

Brethren, it is time to wash your face, anoint yourself and put on a new cloth. You can’t be living in the past and expect to handle your future. Your past belongs to the dunghill of the past, behold, God is set to do a new thing. Wash your face, anoint yourself, put on a new cloth, and position yourself for the new wave of glory. #Greater Glory.

Quote: Why live in the past?

Prophetic Decree: With the hammer of the Lord, I break the hold of your past on your future, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. To the God who forgives and forgets the past, who empowers in the present, and who leads into the future; I reverence Your Excellency.

2. The Owner of times and seasons, appear in my life, in Jesus name

3. The demons of my past haunting my future, roast to ashes, in Jesus name.

4. I receive divine enablement to live above the troubles I brought upon myself because it is written, “even the lawful captive shall be set free…”  (Isaiah 49:25), in the name of Jesus.

5. I receive supernatural strength to pursue my future, in Jesus name.
