Bible Reading: Galatians 5:16, Romans 12:2

Memory Verse:  He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercyProverbs 28:13 (NKJV)

If you can control your desires, you can control your life. Lust isn’t just about attraction or feelings, it messes with your focus, your goals, and your future. When someone lets lust run their life, they end up making quick choices that can cost them big things later. They trade long-term success for short-term pleasure, and peace for regret.

But when you learn self-control, everything changes. You start thinking clearly. You make choices on purpose instead of just reacting to feelings. You build your life instead of constantly fixing mistakes. Discipline isn’t boring. It’s actually strength. It gives you power over your time, your energy, and your future.

That’s the real difference: some people drift wherever their feelings take them, but others learn to lead their lives with purpose. And that choice starts with self-control.

So what is the way out of lust?

First, honesty before God. Lust thrives in secrecy. Confession breaks its power (1 John 1:7). God heals what we stop hiding.

Second, renewing the mind. Jesus taught that lust begins in the heart (Matthew 5:28). Victory is not just behavioural. It is mental. What you repeatedly watch, imagine, and entertain will eventually instruct your actions. Flee from music, words, videos and environment that talks about illicit sex.

Third, intentional boundaries. Joseph ran because he had already decided who he was. Discipline is not about restriction; it’s about preservation. You don’t flirt with what is designed to destroy you.

Fourth, spiritual intimacy. Lust is often a misplaced hunger. When intimacy with God is shallow, desire looks elsewhere. “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).

Finally, accountability and purpose. A man who knows where he is going is less likely to trade his future for a moment. Lust loses strength when purpose becomes clear.

God does not shame those who struggle, but He does call us higher. Mastery over lust is not perfection. It is surrender, consistency, and grace-powered discipline. May God give us the grace not just to resist lust but to rise above it, in Jesus name.

Quote:  Discipline is not about restriction; it’s about preservation. You don’t flirt with what is designed to destroy you.

Prophetic Decree:  Any altar fanning the flame of lust in your members shall catch fire, in Jesus name.
