Bible Reading: Isa. 1:18

Memory Verse:“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man”Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV).

Thank God it is a New year. I asked myself what is best to be taught at a time like this. The words of one of my fathers in the Lord echoed in my ears – obedience.

I attended a retreat organized by a father in faith, whom I highly respect in the area of discipleship on campus. He made a strong statement, whichstuck to my heart: He said, “All you see manifesting in my life is as a result of Obedience”. Indeed, the secret of men is in their stories.

What is Obedience?
Obedience is loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.
To obey is to act in accordance to instructions, though you may not fully understand why.
To obey is to say ‘Yes’ to whatever you’re asked to do, whether it is painful or not.
To obey is to say ‘Yes’ to God and ‘No’ to the devil and our selfish nature.
To obey is to do as commanded and trust in the infallibility of the Commander.
To obey is to dare the future because of one’s confidence in the Lord.
To obey is to submit to higher power and authority.
To obey is to yield to another’s will.

We are to obey God (Deut. 28:1), our Parents/ Guardians (Eph. 6:1), Our teachers & elders, and spiritual authority over us e.g. Our Pastors, Sunday school teachers, Ushers, our group leaders, etc.

Quote: Obedience is the greatest act of faith.

Prophetic Word: I cast out every spirit of disobedience in your life in Jesus name.

Prayer points

  1. I rebuke the spirit of disobedience in my life, in Jesus name.
  2. I receive grace to obey God at all times in Jesus name.
