Bible reading: Philippians 3:12-14
Memory Verse: For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity. Proverbs 24:17(NKJV)
12. Stop condemning yourself: One of the immediate consequences of masturbation is the thought of self- condemnation. When we confess our sins God forgives us! Isaiah43:25
says: “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins”.
If God is not remembering you should not remember too. One of the greatest strategies
of the enemy is to kill you with your own hands using the weapon of self- condemnation.
Don’t let masturbation define you. God loves you but hates the nature of sin in you. Have the right identity. Think right about yourself. If you want to overcome sexual addiction and masturbation in particular, see yourself as God sees you. Address yourself as a son of God. You are a Kingdom citizen. You’re Christ image, God’s workmanship. Stop seeing yourself as a sinner or a masturbator. You’ve made some mistakes does not deny the fact you still possess the DNA of your Father. See yourself as a lover of God and a worshiper of God and no sin can have dominion over you.
13. Give room for “successful failure”: When you are coming out of sexual addictions especially masturbation, you should give some room for failures, in the sense that it might not immediately work out for you to completely be set free without stumbling occasionally.
Don’t get me wrong; you could be instantly free but many atimes, according to research it takes an average of 66 days to form a new habit. The scripture seems to support this too. Proverbs 24:16 says “For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again…”
Take note from the above scripture that though the righteous (a man who is born again) falls seven times, God still calls him Righteous! Your righteousness has never been by your own works but via the grace Jesus bought with His precious Blood. As long as you are striving to live righteously He sees you as righteous
We often think perfection means “never do anything wrong”, “never fail”, or “never make mistakes”. This is not perfection. This is actually pride and arrogance. Perfection in God’s kingdom means realizing your imperfection and continuously striving to become better through the grace of God to help you conform daily to His image and likeness even if you stumble atimes.
