Bible reading: 1 Chron. 21: 1-17

Memory Verse: Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NKJV)

From our text, the adversary manoeuvered David into taking a census in Israel. This would put David’s trust in the size of his army, rather than God. Joab, commander of David’s army recognized this but couldn’t talk David out of this decision. God got annoyed with David and decided to punish him, giving him three options (vs.7, 10).

David, not wanting to feel the ruthlessness of man told God he wanted to fall into His hands. So, God sent a pestilence to Israel and 70,000 men died. When the angel God sent on the mission stood over the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebusite, with his sword lifted to destroy Jerusalem, God stopped him. David, as well as Ornan, saw the messenger of God standing between heaven and earth with his sword drawn over Jerusalem. David asked God to stop His wrath against Israel because he was responsible for the census, and not the people of Israel.

Humm… one man, who happened to be the leader and king of God’s own people sinned, and 70,000 men whom he’s leading paid for the consequences with their lives! Beloved, there’s a need to pray for our leaders both at home, in the Church, in your school and in government that they may be free from error, mistake, and demonic manipulations (1 Tim.2:1).

Quote: Everything falls or rises as a result of leadership.

Prophetic Word: I command every evil prince in the heavens of this nation dead, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

  1. Every spirit of error working against our leaders, fall down and die, in Jesus name.
  2. Spiritual revival, fall upon our leaders, in the name of Jesus.
  3. We come against any evil altar speaking woe against Nigeria, in Jesus name.
  4. Evil prince of the air, ocean, sea and land lording over this nation, die by fire, in Jesus name.
  5. I overcome every error of judgement that will provoke God to wrath, in Jesus name.
