Bible Reading: 1 John 2: 15-17

Memory VerseAnd those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 4:24 (NKJV)

Brethren, we need to ask yourself, ‘Who am I living for’? Friend, you need to ask yourself, ‘What am I living for’? It is who you live for that will determine how you live. I ask you again, ‘Who is the object of your affections?’ Many live for different reasons, which include:

1. Friends:  Many have formed the habit of drinking alcohol, clubbing, womanising, dating, smoking, gluttony, truancy, etc, because of the friends they walk with. They’ve left Bethlehem-Judah for Moab in search for a land of plenty which is full of thorns; in search of pleasures that bring sorrow. Why should another fellow human being control your journey in destiny? Repent as you come under the leadership of the Almighty.

2. Parents: There are many whose children live to please the parents, and not God. No wonder some children study the courses their parents want them to study, and later handover the certificate to their parents, while they move on in the direction of their true passion. Parents, it is our responsibility to discover the talents and gifts of our children and lead them in the same direction.

3. Ambition: Until your purpose on earth becomes your ambition, you aren’t going to be fulfilled. Should you climb the ladder of success in the area of such ambition, you will soon discover a void in your heart no money, influence or affluence can ever fill. Live only to please God. Live for purpose. Purpose is God’s plan for your life before He formed you in your mother’s womb. Ambition is what you desire to achieve for yourself. Make your purpose your sole ambition. Die to self!

4. Career/Job: The pressure is real especially for those in the Western world. For those in developing countries, the bureaucracy of the government are not making things so easy as well. However, never allow your job or career steal your heart away from God. Deliberately create time for personal devotion and fellowship with the brethren. Be careful of the myth of ‘no time’. Who do you run to when the challenges of life hit your career? To the God you never built a relationship with?

Quote:  Until God becomes the centre of your affections, your heart remains cancerous.

Prophetic Decree: Receive great grace to live for God, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I break the hold of sin, flesh, and the world system upon my heart, in Jesus name.

2. Nothing shall separate me from the love of the Father, in Jesus name.

3. Father, please help me to live for You, in Jesus name.

4. Jesus, please help me to live for You, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Spirit, please help me to live for You, in Jesus name.
