Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:12

Memory Verse: Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune

to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he

does not fall [into sin and condemnation]. 1 Corinthians 10:12 (AMP)

The Christian community has not been immune to accusations about sexual immorality. Both old and young, leaders and followers have been entangled by this sexual virus. It is heartbreaking to read the stories of people whose lives have been deeply damaged by such actions. But, why do people fall into sexual sin?

  1. Carelessness: 1 Corinthians 10:12 (BSB) says, “So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.” Many are rubbing shoulders with the devil. Many are eating with the devil using a long spoon. This could be fatal. Flee, I say flee. You remember Joseph in Potiphar’s house? Run away from every appearance of evil. Do you notice you’re becoming too close to a lady that isn’t your wife? A. Pray to God to help you. B. Inform your wife if you’re married and/or inform your pastor about it. C. Draw out a healthy boundary. Don’t keep quiet. Secrecy will give your sin more strength. He that covers his sins shall not prosper. Take heed lest you fall.
  • Ignorance: Pastor George Izunwa said, “It is possible to be manifesting symptoms of great danger but tragically unaware”. Many are too naive to know when a relationship is going beyond normal. Many are very daft spiritually lacking any form of spiritual navigation system or spiritual discernment. 1 Corinthians 10:12 (MSG) says, “Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.”

3. Spiritual Arrogance: Over-spirituality is another reason. Pride, the Bible says goes before a fall. A brother was once caught “in the very act” yet, he was speaking in tongues. “Afterall, God will forgive me” has caused many arrogant Christians lose their place in destiny. God forgives sins but the consequences of our sins lives with us. Ask David.

Quote: Until God is your chief concern — until sinning against Him is

what makes your heart break — you will never turn the corner – Tony Reinke.

Prophetic Decree:  The grip of sexual sin is broken over your life, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Jesus for power and dominion over sin.

2. Here I am O Lord, have mercy upon me and forgive me. Deliver me from easily besetting sins, in Jesus name

3. I break any demonic soul tie between (mention the name of your sin partner) and me, in Jesus name.

4. Let the Rock of ages crumble every desire of sin in my life, in Jesus name.

Spirit, in Jesus name.
