Bible Reading: Colossians 3:16
Memory Verse: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
In an interview, a dear brother was asked, “Sir, you preach as if you have committed the entire Bible to memory. How many times have you read the Bible? He answered, “Bible Reading is an unfinished enterprise; you keep reading. A student once met me after a meeting and said that I quoted 68 scriptures verbatim.
He asked if I memorized the scriptures. I said no, I eat them. No matter how unintelligent you are, you can’t forget the food you ate last night, unless you are mentally derailed. If you were given three seconds, you could tell what you ate about five days ago, if you truly ate it.
So, the Bible is not just for reading; it’s actually for eating. I’m not among the people that have read the Bible three or five times; I don’t know how many times I have read the Bible, and I’m not planning to know how many times. I just know it’s my delight to feed on it daily, and I can’t claim to have finished reading it.”
Brethren, next after salvation is the renewal of your mind. This is a lifelong task, dear brethren. Have a Bible reading routine. Balance the Word and prayer in your daily life. These two are the most essential for your spiritual health.
As important as Bible Reading is, it is not most profitable without Bible meditation. When you meditate you ‘chew the cord’. It is similar to what ruminant animals do when they regurgitate. You think deeply about a word, a verse, or a chapter you have just read in search for a deeper meaning as the Holy Spirit sheds his light of understanding into your spirit. This is what truly transforms.
Some Saints of Old binded their lives under this oath, “No Bible, No Breakfast”. Such are compelling words needed to prioritise spirit meat above physical meat.
Dear Parents, please put a structure for personal daily quiet time and personal prayers in place for your children. Let them start to encounter the Lord personally for themselves. Your collective family altar then corroborate their personal time with the Lord. Don’t joke with child training especially for those parents living in developed countries of the world. Don’t forget anyway, you cannot give what you don’t have.
Do you know? By simply memorising one verse of the scriptures every week, you would have learnt 52 verses in a year. It was the scriptures Jesus had memorised in his spirit he used in confronting the temptation of the devil (Matthew 4: 1-11)
Question: What are you saying to the numerous temptations the devil is bringing your way?
Quote: If you are ignorant of God’s Word, you will always be ignorant of God’s will – Billy Graham.
Prophetic Decree: Receive an insatiable appetite for the Word of God, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. I repent of my repulsion towards the Word of God, in Jesus name.
2. I come against every antagonistic spirit, in Jesus name.
3. O Lord, please let your Word dwell richly in me in all wisdom, in Jesus name.
4. My Father, open the floodgate of revelation for me as I press daily into your Word, in Jesus name.
5. May your Word continue to dwell in my heart so that I will not sin against you, in Jesus name.
