Bible Reading:  Revelation 2: 1-5, Luke 10: 25–37

Memory Verse But I have this [charge] against you, that you have left your first love [you have lost the depth of love that you first had for Me]. Revelation 2:4 (AMP)

Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the term First Love as the first person one loves in a romantic way. It adds: You never forget your first love. One’s first love is what is uppermost in one’s heart, as it were, your number one addiction. There could be positive or negative addiction. Friend, who is your first love? As wonderful as marriage is, your spouse shouldn’t be your first love neither should your children be your first love. As lovely as ministry is, a medium of reaching out to several souls daily, it shouldn’t be your first love. As splendid as your work is, a tool for providing for the needs of your family and spreading the Gospel, it shouldn’t be your first love. As wonderful as working for the Lord is either as a choir leader, Sunday School teacher, usher, visitation team member, etc, it shouldn’t be your first love.

Friends, you can be lost working in God’s vineyard but not walking with the owner of the vineyard. God asked, “Adam, where are thou”? (Gen. 3:9). Adam was in the garden of Eden yet, lost in the garden. Adam was in Church but was not in touch with God. This is the reality of some Christians. This is the reason why some people experience some strange attacks though they are working for the Lord. Please hear me beloved: Anything can become a distraction.

In the story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37, the Priest and the Levite were both busy working for the Lord, but not walking with the Lord per time. They missed the mark. This is the reason why you need to be sensitive even in our line of duty for the Master. You must be ready to allow God interrupt your spiritual schedule. It is His work anyway. Don’t be over-zealous. Your zeal must be backed up with the knowledge of His will per time. Let God lead His work. Just follow as a yielded vessel. Again I ask: Who is your first love?

Quote: Never love the work of the Master above the Master.

Prophetic Decree: Henceforth, Jesus shall seat permanently on the throne of your heart, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I come in repentance and brokenness to the first love of my heart.

2. Holy Spirit, please help me to prioritize my walk with You above my work for You.

3. I dethrone any idol in my heart competing for the throne of Jesus.

4. I silence any spiritual attack sustained by my insensitivity to the move of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name.

5. In God’s mercies, never shall I be lost in the garden of the Lord, in Jesus name.

THREE THINGS YOU MUST CONQUER

Life is not just about what you achieve, it’s about what you master. Before God can trust you with influence, impact, or increase, He watches how well you can govern yourself. It was Apostle Arome Osayi who said: "The first thing that a young adult must be exposed to is mastery over appetite...
