DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post August

Thursday, 18th August, 2016.

Scripture Reading:    Gal.5:22-23.

Memory verse for the week:   Heb 1:1-2

Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him. (HCS)

A beautiful day to you my brothers & sisters in the Lord. Shall we continue studying at our Master’s feet the fruit of the Holy Spirit in details. Holy Spirit please take over.

  1. LOVE:   There are four types of love. i)Philia ( friendship love) e.g. David and Jonathan 1Sam 18&19. (ii) Storge (family love) e.g. love between Mother & child. (iii) Eros (romantic love) e.g. love between married people (iv)Agape (selfless love) e.g. love from God to Man. Agape love of God is the greatest of all. This is love demonstrated without any condition attached. It is love by choice and not by chance. You choose to love your neighbor despite many hurts. It was first shown by God to Man when we were all dead in our sins (Rom 5:8). 1Cor.13 describes this type of love: It is kind, not proud, and not rude; does not seek its own interest, & not quick tempered. It believes, hope and endure all things. This love never fails.
  • JOY: The joy of the Lord is my strength (Neh.8:10). Joy is anchored on the awareness that God is our strength and protector. Therefore, no situation can make us sad. It is more than just being happy. Happiness could turn to sadness when bad things happen to one. With the joy of the Lord, no matter the situation, we know all things will work together for our good. I have heard of a believer that mounted the pulpit to preach the same day his wife died. This is the strength (joy) of the Lord at work!
  • PEACE: This is the result of resting in a relationship with God. Peace isn’t an absence of conflict. It talks about the calmness in the soul that is unaffected by outward circumstances or pressures. Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. John14:27. A student whose Parent couldn’t pay his school fees shouldn’t be worried. Let such student invite Jesus the Prince of Peace into the situation. Surely, uncommon doors shall open, in Jesus’ name.

ACTION WORD:        LET OTHERS SEE JESUS IN YOU!

PRAYER POINT:

  1. My character shall not stand against me on judgment day, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Sword of fire, pierce through my heart today, in the name of Jesus.
