Bible Reading: Proverbs 29:17, Isaiah 54:13, 8:18

Memory VerseTeach your children right from wrong, and when they are grown they will still do right. Proverbs 22:6 (CEV)

The 21st century is becoming more and more sophisticated in the fulfilment of the prophecy of the scriptures. We all need to be extra vigilant. A mother came back from a retreat with two of her teenage daughters. She decided to take a nap. About 30 minutes later, she had a nudge in her spirit to check up on her daughters. When she got to their room, she saw a towel on a metal box. Opening the metal box, she saw her 11- year-old daughter inside the box with little or no life, sweating profusely.

She bursted in tongues and God resuscitated her. A doctor said had she slept there for 10 more minutes, the story would have been different. The young girl was questioned. She said she saw a challenge on the internet which said she should lock herself up in a metal box for 2 hours and she decided to try it out. That’s shocking! Can you see the power of unguarded access to information! Parents, we all have to be more vigilant. Freedom is not absence of caution. Internet screen time must be well monitored. You need to block off some unfriendly sites on your YouTube in order to protect your children. Some of the Whites we are trying to imitate are wiser than us.

Despite his influence and affluence, a former US president gave his daughters limited access to the internet and “friendly rules” about dating and such things. The primary role of parenting is to guide, guard and gark. Let’s live up to the task without delegating our responsibilities. Internet apps such as Zift App, Screen Time, unGlue, Qustodio, Norton Family, etc, can be used to monitor sites visited and control screen time. Let’s walk circumspectly and not as fools, redeeming the time because the days are evil (Eph. 5:16). These are perilous times.
