Bible Reading:  Proverbs 23:7, Romans 12:1-2

Memory Verse:  For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

Most times, the output of our lives are a function of our most predominant thought/mindset. A dear brother was learning how to play golf. Behold there were two trees in front of him. He called his trainer to express his frustration. His trainer responded amazingly, “There are no obstacles, just hit the ball. The golf stick has the potential of lifting the ball above the trees”. He did hit the ball and it hit one of the trees. Then the trainer said something remarkable: You couldn’t lift the ball above the trees because you didn’t lift it first in your mind.”

Brethren, please don’t joke with the power of your mind. No wonder the scriptures says,  “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV). Take a deeper look at the second part of Proverbs 23:7b. It says, “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.” This means that there are many things we say or do that are not in line with what our heart is really saying or doing. No wonder the results we are generating is nothing to write home about.

André Schurrle a former World champion with Germany at the World cup in Brazil participated in the WimHof method, one of the toughest endurance challenges in the world. He climbed the Sniezka mountains, the highest point of the Czech Republic at 1,603 meters above sea level, with his torso exposed and he described the experience thus: “The last minutes I couldn’t feel anything and I had to find something very deep within me to keep me going. An experience I will never forget! -19 degrees, 100 km/hr wind in our faces, heavy snow, and rain.

I learnt that my body and I are stronger than I thought if I put my mind and soul into anything I do”. Coupled with God’s grace, once you believe you can, your mind opens up to solutions. There is a strong connection between what you believe and what you will see happen in your life. Your predominant thought and the outcome of your life are congruent. What do you think and say that you are?

Quote:  Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.’ – Henry Ford.
