Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:12, Ecclesiastes 5:10

Memory VerseWealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. Proverbs 13:11 (ESV)

Gambling is defined as the act of risking money or other valuables on the outcome of an event with an uncertain result. It encompasses various forms like casino games, lotteries, sports betting, and even card games for high stakes.

In this season of economic hardship, many, including tongue speaking Christians may do anything to survive. This is not a message of condemnation but of caution. Believe me, God can supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus, if only you will re-align yourself to God’s statutes and choose to be financially intelligent in all humility. No job is dirty. Come down from your high horse. Live life per time. Remember Isaac in the time of famine in Genesis 26.

Reasons why you shouldn’t gamble as a Christian are:

1. Greed and covetousness: Gambling can fuel desires for wealth and possessions, conflicting with the teachings of contentment and trusting God’s providence (Matthew 6:25-34).

2. Addiction and dependence: Gambling can be highly addictive, leading to financial ruin, broken relationships, and spiritual decline. This addiction can be seen as a form of idolatry, prioritizing personal desires over God (Colossians 3:5).

3. Exploitation and harm: Gambling often involves profiting from the losses of others, raising concerns about fairness and ethical treatment. This can contradict the Christian call to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39).

4. Temptation and risk: Gambling can lead to temptation to sin through lying, cheating, or neglecting responsibilities. It can also involve risks that conflict with the call to be good stewards of God’s blessings (Luke 16:10-13).

Finally, it is important to remember that Christians struggling with gambling are not alone and are encouraged to seek help and support within their faith community.
