Bible ReadingDeuteronomy 28:1, Isaiah 1:8

Memory Verse: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Today, let’s learn from the exploits and weaknesses of God’s General, Tommy Hicks

C. His Exploits – When Heaven Touched Earth: Tommy Hicks is most remembered for the Argentine Revival of 1954, one of the largest healing revivals in church history. The raw demonstration of the power of God was evident. God used him to heal a guard closest to the president of Argentina and including President Juan Perón himself. Consequently, the door of the Gospel to Argentina opened and millions were reached for Christ. Stadiums were filled with hundreds of thousands, documented healings of the blind, deaf, lame, and terminally ill. The entire cities stirred with the fear of God, hospitals reportedly emptied as patients attended meetings, and even political leaders acknowledged the move of God. What made this revival striking was that Hicks did not market miracles. Miracles followed obedience. The revival atmosphere was heavy with repentance, worship, and awe, not entertainment. God trusted him with power because he did not crave it for himself.

D. His Weaknesses – A Fragile Vessel Carrying Great Fire: Tommy Hicks was not a flawless man.

1. Physical Weakness: The intensity of his ministry took a toll on his body. Constant travel, long meetings, and spiritual strain weakened his health over time. Like many revivalists, his body bore the cost of his obedience. Please take care of your health even as you serve Jesus.

II. Emotional Weight: Carrying massive crowds, expectations, and spiritual warfare can be heavy. Hicks faced seasons of pressure, exhaustion, and emotional strain. This is proof that even anointed men are still human.

III. A Limited Lifespan: He died relatively young (in his early 60s). While his life was impactful, it reminds us that burning brightly without balance can shorten the journey, even when the calling is genuine. Yet, his weaknesses do not diminish his legacy, rather they humanize it.

A Gentle Reflection: Tommy Hicks teaches us something profound:

1. God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for yielded people.

2. He was not the loudest voice of his generation, but he was one of the most obedient. His life whispers a message many miss today: Revival is not sustained by talent, but by surrender.

3. For You Reading This: You may not preach to stadiums. You may never travel to nations. But the same God who used Tommy Hicks is still moved by obedience over convenience, faith over fear, and humility over hype. And, He is still writing stories through willing hearts.

QuoteThe problem with many of us as individuals is the problem of balance.

Prophetic Decree:  Your health shall not be cut short. May you fulfil your destiny in a grand way, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I receive grace to be a yielded vessel, in Jesus name.

2. I receive grace to be a surrendered vessel, in Jesus name.

3. Lord, help me to die to self, but alive in the Spirit, in Jesus name.

4. I receive grace to live a life of complete obedience and absolute surrender, in Jesus name.

5. I receive the wisdom of God to balance my ministry, work, health and family life, in Jesus name.

6. I refuse to be a foolish virgin, in Jesus name.
