Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:12, Colossians 3:2

Memory Verse: Little children, guard yourselves from idols. 1 John 5:21: (NASB)

It was Wendy Ologe who wrote: A gamer had hot water poured on him mistakenly and he didn’t even feel it. Think about that for a moment. The game had captured his attention so completely that his brain filtered out physical pain. Gaming addiction is real.

This generation is growing up in a world where technology is no longer just a tool; it is becoming an environment. Many children don’t just play games. They live in them.

When a child spends hours chasing rewards, levels, achievements, rankings, and virtual identities, something deeper is happening:

1. The brain is being trained to seek constant stimulation.

2. Real-life responsibilities begin to feel boring.

3. Family conversations become interruptions.

4. Sleep becomes optional.

5. Self-control becomes weaker.

And this is exactly why gaming is not just a gaming conversation. It is a sex conversation. Why? Because the same device used for gaming often becomes the doorway to pornography, sexualized content, online predators, grooming, explicit chats, secret relationships, and inappropriate gaming communities.

Many parents focus on what their child is playing. Few parents focus on who their child is playing with. A child who spends six hours online gaming is not just exposed to a game. They are exposed to people. And people influence beliefs, language, values, identity, and sexuality.

This is why every parent must ask:

I. What games is my child playing?

II. Who are they talking to?

III. What platforms are connected to those games?

IV. How much of their identity is now tied to the virtual world?

V. Could they walk away from the game for a week without becoming angry or distressed?

Gaming itself is not the enemy. But anything that controls your child’s attention more than their values eventually begins to shape their future.

The question is no longer: “Is my child playing games?” The real question is: “Are the games beginning to play my child?”

The question is no longer: “Is technology good for my children?” The real question is: “How do I maximise only the good side of technology.”

Quote: Technology is no longer just a tool; it is becoming an environment. Stay guarded!

Prophetic Decree: May the good Lord deliver you from every idol in your heart, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

Lord, we commit the hearts of our children into your hands, please watch over it. Help them to strike a balance. Deliver them from technology addiction. Grant them the spirit of self-control. And for the parents, we receive grace to parent intentionally and in wisdom, in Jesus name
