Bible reading: Jam. 1:1-5

Memory Verse: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” James 1:5 (NKJV).

Wisdom is that supernatural force that God gives a man that causes him to see life the way God sees it. God sees our past, present and our glorious future. Academic wisdom is learnt in the four walls of a school. Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge right. It is possible to read fifty books and not be wealthy. It takes more than information gathering to handle life. Wisdom gathers information and has the ability to use it to determine a better outcome. It takes wisdom to handle the crisis and the challenges of life.

  1. A wise man is very observant (Psa. 107:43).
  • The wise what is said but not spoken. They understand what is inferred from a discussion (Prov. 1:7). Develop the hearing nature, don’t just listen but listen to hear.
  • The wise man learns from unlikely sources. Learning is a skill that wisdom brings to you. There is no faculty of wisdom and understanding in the University, as it takes wisdom to learn from unlikely sources. Expect to find wisdom from unlikely places.
  • The wise man gathers experts to work for him. The expert most times is not as wise; he only has ideas and knows the practical steps to execute it. The man of wisdom employs the experts to work for him.
  • The wise man hears and respects instructions (Prov. 8:33. Prov. 9:9). The Word of God is filled with instructions on many things such as excellence, holy living, etc. Disrespect for instruction is a mark for destruction. It is a mark of wisdom to obey instructions, direction and guidelines.

Quote: Only the wise shall inherit the earth.

Prophetic Word: Receive wisdom for profitable living, in Jesus name.

Prayer

Lord, I ask that You will guide me in the path of wisdom and cause my life to reflect the function of wisdom in Jesus name. Amen.
