Scripture Reading: Numbers 12:1-2
Memory verse for the week: Ecclesiastes 12:1
“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”(NKJV)
“The north wind brings forth rain, and backbiting tongue an angry countenance”.
Proverbs 25:23
Backbiting is an act of engaging in a malicious talk about an absent person. It is talking behind someone with a wrong intention. Even when the person is wrong, a backbiter magnifies the offence. Like the case of Moses whom Miriam and Aaron spoke against because he married an Ethiopian woman. It is an act instigated by the devil in other to cause disunity among the body of Christ.
A teenager who is involved in backbiting is a coward. This is because he\she fails to tell the truth where he\she is supposed to. Some teenagers discuss other adults as if they gave birth to them. They would use words like “don’t mind that stupid old man or woman always nagging”. Some other teenagers would say, “Did you see the skirt Sister Dennis wore to church today…very skimpy!” She thinks she would lead choruses and I would have responded? Beloved, that is the voice of backbiting. Shun it! You should call the sister aside and politely let her know that what she is wearing does not speak well of her.
The problem with backbiting is that there are two or more people involved and it is a very grave offence before God. (Psalm 101:5). Miriam became a leper for seven days because she spoke against God’s anointed. May God give you divine wisdom to always reject backbiting? Shalom!
ACTION WORD: BACKBITERS REMAIN IN THE BACK.
PRAYER POINT:
- I refuse to be a backbiter, in the mighty name of Jesus.
I receive wisdom to correct any wrong, in Jesus name.
