Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 9: 6-15

Memory Verse: As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. 2 Corinthians 9:13 (NLT)

There have been so many misconceptions about boxing day. Some think it is a day for boxing (fighting), but it’s simply a holiday celebrated the day after Christmas day. Boxing day is another time of appreciation. It is an age long celebration. Traditionally on this day, Masters give their servants an opportunity to enjoy themselves and to take a day off after a tiring preparation towards Christmas and they are also presented with a box full of gifts. It was officially recognized in England, Northern Ireland and Wales in 1871 as a bank holiday and in Scotland in 1974.

You can also tap into the spirit of giving, benevolence and philanthropy at a time like this out of the abundance God has given you no matter how little. Your present status is another person’s prayer. You can reach out to widows, orphanages, reprimand homes, etc. There was a group many years ago who dedicated themselves to touching lives on a day like this. They will cook with their money and travel to rural villages to evangelize the gospel. They also go with clothing materials, bags, shoes, etc. Those with special skills for hair plaiting and barbers also use such to the glory of God. They do all of these in order to win more souls for God.

What a people! While others are bringing down the mountain of rice, salad, and chicken in their homes, some see this season as an opportunity for strategic evangelism and making a difference. Glory to the name of the Lord. What an investment in eternity! You too can make a difference where you are on this day. Box a gift for a neighbour, teacher, friend, worker, and especially your biological and spiritual parents. Nothing is too small. Start from where you are. The password is “cheerfully give”.
