COMMON CHALLENGES SINGLES PASS THROUGH (1)

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7: 7-9

Memory VerseBut if they do not have [sufficient] self-control, they should marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. 1 Corinthians 7:9 (AMP)

Take these two important points as foundational lessons:

A. If it is not God’s will, it shouldn’t be your desire.

B. Anyone already in your life contrary to God’s will should be allowed to leave now (Mat. 15:13): Mrs Dinah Arome was in a serious relationship for 4 years until God told her to break up. God’s will for your marriage is the safest bet.

A few challenges singles go through include:

  1. The bondage of perennial singlehood: Year in – year out, you can’t locate a wife or husband. Or, at other times, you don’t have the needed resources to marry. Furthermore, there could be a family curse, evil spell, or evil covenant standing as a barrier between you and your destiny spouse. Guess what? Sometimes it could also be the foul fragrance of your character –  your talkativeness, your bad manners, shabby dressing, rough hair style, drunkenness, etc – chasing off potential spouse. Demons sometimes capitalize on our character defects as a means of oppression. Examine yourselves. Break all evil bondages.
  • The problem of incompatibility:  Some people have been looking for their “spec” for many years. They are looking for that tall, broad- chested brother with a fat pay and a good ride working in an oil firm or in a bank. My dear, come down from your high horse! What about if God’s perfect will for you is that brother who has nothing now but a glorious future tomorrow. Mummy Folu Adeboye turned down the request of bankers, lawyers, etc, to marry Daddy Adeboye who only had great dreams many decades ago. Late Billy Graham’s wife thanked the woman who refused to marry her husband initially. Billy Graham went ahead to become the most impactful evangelist in his generation. On the flip side, brother, will you marry that sister suffering from tuberculosis if that is God’s perfect will for your life? Ask Dr. D. K. Olukoya. See the future, not the present. That is faith!

3. Inability to hear from God:  Get it right! It is the same way God has always spoken to you on several issues He will speak to you over the issue of marriage. If you haven’t learnt how to hear or perceive the voice of the Lord perhaps through the inner witness, dreams, visions, audible voice, etc, before now, you will surely find it difficult to ascertain his voice in heavier matters such as in the choice of a marriage partner. Prophetic Decree: Every chain tying you down in your father’s house is broken, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Father, I am sorry of anyway I have wasted the days of my youth.

2. I break every bondage of perennial singlehood, in Jesus name.

3. Let the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh manifest by fire, in Jesus name.

4. Open my heart and my ears to your will, O God, in Jesus name.

5. Today, I receive a circumcision away from all the idols of my heart, in Jesus name.
