Bible Reading: Psalm 150: 1-6
Memory Verse: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
A man of God visited a country for the first time many years ago. His host insisted that he visits a particular place called, ‘The City of The Dead’. This was a massive place where the victims of the second world war were buried. There, he saw many tents made of plastics serving as home for some people. Because of poverty and housing shortages, many people actually live in these tomb areas, some even sleep directly on graves. As at then, this man of God was living in a one-room at Mushin, in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Suddenly, he became eternally grateful to God for the privilege of what He has given him. The little in his hands he has been complaining and murmuring about is a testimony to many. Friends, learn to count your blessings and name them one by one. It will surprise you what the Lord has done.
No matter what might have happened this year, without God, know for sure, it could have been worse. For the gift of life, you need to thank God. For your body organs – liver, kidney, heart, eyes, nose, etc, you need to thank God.
Yes, the economy may not be friendly especially in most developing countries.
Infact, an average person in the developed world is under the burden of recurrent monthly expenses, still, God deserves all the praise.
It is the living that can praise God. There is hope for the living dog unlike a dead lion. The powers that stopped your parents also came haunting for you, but God disappointed their counsels. He disappointed the devices of the wicked in your life, your workplace, your home, your health, your children’s life, etc., so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. Look beyond your pain, troubles and discomfort while you focus on your gains, the ‘little wins’, the underserved mercies, etc.
Do you know that it was the same headache that a common paracetamol cured that took the lives of some? The same malaria that you treated killed many. When last did you thank God for your hands that can still move? Your legs that can still walk? Your mouth that can still talk? These are everyday miracles that we often take for granted.
Yes, I know you were duped, but with Jesus, you can still bounce back again. I know the business deal went wrong, but with Jesus, there shall be restoration. Friend, don’t be ungrateful. Get a pen and paper, and write one after the other the simple but precious every day miracles. Only the living can praise you, O Lord. Thank you Jesus for Year 2025.
Quote: Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings – William Arthur Ward.
Prophetic Decree: I rebuke every cancer of ingratitude in your life, in Jesus name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Revelations 12-18
HYMN: COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS NAME THEM ONE BY ONE
1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
[Refrain]
3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
[Refrain]
4. So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
[Refrain]
