Bible Reading: Psalm 119:9, John 17:17

Memory Verse:  How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to Your precepts]. Psalm 199:9 (AMP)

You know the Bible is a mysterious book. It will ask a question, and will answer the question by itself. It doesn’t want you to be in doubt about its answers. Such is our memory verse for today. 

In one of the devotionals from the Purify Your Mind Series (Part 2) by Joe Kirby: Day 15 Devotional (http://bible.com/r/ASC), available on YouVersion app, he wrote: To quote D.L. Moody, “This book [the Bible] will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from this book” (Moody, Notes From My Bible: From Genesis To Revelation).

The simplest answer on how to overcome sexual sin is not accountability software, biblical counselling, or even soliciting the prayers of godly people – though these are all wonderful and super-important in this battle. But the greatest thing a young man or woman can do to fight this sin is to get disciplined and spend quality time in the Word of God every day.

Discipline is hard, but if something is valuable to you, you’ll find the discipline to make it happen. What would you do if I gave you $1,000 every week to memorize one of these verses on purity? I guarantee that in a year, you would be $52k richer!

You may say, “Not me, Joe! My memory is like a sieve.” Well, the Bible is described as water because it cleanses, so even if the verses don’t stick, you will have a clean sieve by the end of the year! You may think I’m joking, but the Holy Spirit will bring these verses to mind at just the right time, and just the very action of reading the Word of God purifies our hearts and minds.”

You wouldn’t want to miss any notifications from some of your best football clubs, or celebrity stars on your phone. Similarly, why not download a Bible app that notifies you to read the Word of God, or flashes a Bible verse on your phone screen everytime?

That’s the way to go in order to lead a sexually pure life! You’ve got to work out your salvation – with fear and trembling. Selah

Prayer Focus 

1. Thank you Father for the water of your Word that cleanses and purifies. 

2. Help me, Lord to live a disciplined life and to prioritise reading my Bible daily. 

3. Water of the Word of God, purge my soul today, in Jesus name. 

4. Fire in the Word of God, consume my soul today, in Jesus name (Jeremiah 23:29).

5. Hammer of the Word of God, break every hardness in my human soul, in Jesus name (Jeremiah 23:29).
