Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 11: 1-27

Memory Verse: Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. Zechariah 13:7 (NIV)

1. David’s primary assignment was to be the commander of the ground soldiers against the enemies of the God of Israel. His problem started the day he delegated his primary responsibility. This eventually led to a generational curse. The day you begin to slack in the place of your primary divine assignment, the devil has succeeded in helping you to shoot yourself on the leg.

2. All the devil need is to snare the carrier of the covenant, and he will smear the covenant. The same way he almost got Abraham when he went in to Hagar, he almost got David when he killed Uriah and got Bathsheba pregnant. His formula remains the same: Smite the shepherd and scatter his sheep  (Zechariah 13:7).

3. For the carrier of the covenant, the leader of a group, president of a fellowship, General Overseer of a Church, etc, one simple mistake is more than enough to alter God’s divine plan and purpose.

4. The carelessness of a spiritual leader could have a devastating effect on his unborn generation.

5. In his careless moment, a once spiritual leader became a very powerful tool in the hands of the devil.

6. David failed to deal with the sexual problems rooted in his generation until it dealt with him. Your foundation has a lot to do with your destiny. Consciously deal with your foundation.

7. If David had gone to battle, perhaps he wouldn’t have seen Bathsheba bathing. It is very risky to leave your spiritual assignment for a moment. Daily covenant yourself to what God has called you to do. There is no such thing as sabbatical leave in the things of God even in old age.

8. No matter how great the investment of divine grace upon your life, one careless moment could ruin just everything. A hymn write wrote, “Christian, seek not yet repose; Hear thy guardian angel say, ‘Thou art in the midst of foes: Watch and pray.”

Quote:  It is a honourable yet most fearful thing to be close to God.

POWER FOR HONOURABLE CONNECTION (2)

THE QUIET DESTROYERS (2)

One of the greatest dangers in the life of a believer is not the sins everyone can see, but the ones that hide quietly in the heart. These sins rarely attract attention, yet they slowly drain spiritual strength and weaken a man’s destiny. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles”...
