POWER TO LIVE ABOVE SIN (1)

POWER TO LIVE ABOVE SIN (1)

Bible Reading: Ephesians 4: 17-32

Memory Verse: And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24 (NKJV)

Not all potential energy is converted to kinetic energy. Similarly, not all who call themselves children of God are living above sin. Many so-called children of God are suffering from the weight of their past sins, old habits, and evil addictions. Now, if the Bible says, “Sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:14) and sin seems to be having dominion over you, then, the problem must be rooted in you. Perhaps you aren’t getting few things right. How do I then live above self, sin, and negative addictions:

  1. Be genuinely born again (John 3:3): To be born again is to totally surrender one’s life to Christ as one’s personal Lord and saviour. It is a spiritual transformation. A spiritual rebirth (John 3:3). Are you totally surrendered to Christ? Be sincere with yourself. Are you willing to forgo your old past life? Pastor Adeboye said all his old friends whom they used to drink alcohol together and womanize together deserted him when he got born again. Many are only paying lip service to this issue. You will need to be resolute even as the Lord strengthens your heart to undo certain things. You will need God’s grace plus determination. May the appetite for sin die in your life, in Jesus name.

2. Cut away from every ungodly relationship (Psalm 1:1-3): You say you are born again, what are you still doing with people who smoke, drink concoction served at motor parks, drink alcoholic wine/beer, etc. Some deceive themselves saying, “This drink contains only 2-5% alcohol”. Do you keep playing with a pig and think it won’t get you dirty someday? Flee, I say flee from all appearances of evil. All things may be lawful but all things do not edify (1 Cor. 6:12).

Quote:  Salvation is the total departure from all sins, not some sins.

Prophetic Decree: Receive power to rule over the devil, sin and self, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Eternal life found in Christ Jesus, come and abide in me, in Jesus name.

2. Lord, I am sorry in every way I have rubbished my salvation, in Jesus name.

3. Today, I rededicate my life to Christ as my personal Lord and saviour.

4. I break the grip of ungodly friendship and relationship in my life, in Jesus name.

5. Any soul tie with any sin partner, break, in Jesus name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 49-53
