Bible Reading: Matt. 10:42, Jam. 1:17.

Memory Verse: “Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked” Psalm 82:3-4.

I was filled with joy when I heard some Christian students filed out with various gifts to the motherless babies’ home sometimes ago. There, they sang, danced and ate with them. How wonderful to know that someone cares about your needs and demonstrates it.

Tabitha, otherwise known as Dorcas was a prototype of a woman with a heart for the needy. The Bible says she was always doing good and helping the poor with particular emphasis to the widows (Acts 9:36). Tabitha suddenly fell sick and died (Acts 9:37) and Apostle Peter was called upon.

Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to her room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made for them (vs. 39). The anointing of God came upon Apostle Peter when he heard and saw the emotion-laden faces of the widows, he prayed, and Tabitha jerked back to life (Acts 9:40).

Sometimes in life, it is your good works that will save you in times of need. What seed are you sowing into your future? Remember the needy in all that you do.  Rev.22:12 says, “Look! I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to repay each person according to what he has done” (HCS).

Quote: Love is lust without sacrifice. Love without giving does not live up to her true meaning.

Prophetic Word: Receive Divine grace to give sacrificially in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:

  1. Holy Spirit, purge me of every selfish attitude and character, in Jesus name.
  2. I receive grace to love and care for the needy in Jesus name.
