Bible Reading: Romans 8: 18, 36-39

Memory VerseLet us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 (ESV)

An Arab boy from a staunch Islamic family gave his life to Christ. As expected, his family disowned and vowed to kill him. So, he fled to London in Europe. He held on to his faith in Christ Jesus. Though from a rich family, he had no authentic immigration papers and as such, he couldn’t get a good job. To keep body and soul together, he decided to do menial jobs until he ended up in a restaurant.

One day, a very wealthy Arabian came to London to buy a house but had a language barrier. All he could say was, “House, I buy” as he stood in front of any mansion he desires. Since the owner is unwilling to sell, they chased him out. One day, in his confused state, he decided to eat in a restaurant. As he was mumbling in disappointment in Arabic language, this ostracized newly born again child of God stumbled across. Divine Coincidence! The wealthy Arabian decided to employ him for just 3 days with a whooping sum of £1 million pounds per day. Indeed our God is a God that raises the poor out of the dust, and the needy out of the dunghill in order to set them among the princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory (1 Samuel 2:8).

There is a blessing attached to holding on to God in season and out of season. What are you willing to endure for your faith? The disciples said, “We have left all and followed you, Lord” (Luke 18:28). What have you foregone since you started following God? What has your salvation cost you? Know for sure that if you faint in the day of adversity, you strength is small (Proverbs 24:10).

Dear reader, hold on to the statutes and commandments of God in that office and in that examination hall. Don’t compromise the scriptures in your family. Friends may forsake you. Family may ostracize you. But there is a man that sticks better than a friend (Prov. 18:24). His name is Jesus. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Hold on tightly to him.
