Bible Reading: Malachi 3:6, James 1:17, Psalm 89:34

Memory VerseJesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

E. James Rohn opined, “Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.”  Consistency is the ability to remain the same in behaviour, attitude, or quality. Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today and forever. That’s consistency. Many are not consistent in their behavioural pattern. They are like the chameleon. They represent the type of people who the Bible describes as easily tossed to and fro by any wind of doctrine.

When they are in the Church or amongst believers, they are so well behaved, but when they get to their friends, you will be amazed by their words, dressing and mannerism. Stand for righteousness. Be principled and predictable. People should be able to predict your stand as it concerns matters of righteousness. Dr. Christopher Kolade will never take or give bribe. That’s behavioural consistency and as such, he is seated on board of many companies. “Consistency is the true foundation of trust. Either keep your promises or do not make them” – Roy T. Bennett.

Consistency means steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, or form. Consistency is also a godly virtue needed in our everyday walk with Jesus. Infact, consistency is the live wire of our Christian journey. Many Christians were fervent in the beginning of the year. Special thanks to the various prayers and fasting of Churches, but they haven’t learnt to set themselves on fire personally in their daily quiet time and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. “It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently” – Anthony Robbins.

Can you be consistent to pursue a goal despite the numerous rigor and challenges from start to finish for 7 years? That will take a lot of grace, grit, determination and above all consistency. In your bid to realize your goals, you may fall, make mistakes or outrightly fail. The fire of consistency powered by determination and absolute reliance on God’s grace will always bring you back on track. All things are possible.
