Sonali Mukherjee-Tiwari is a disfigured acid attack victim. The brave woman was
targeted by three men who were angry at her for rejecting their sexual advances and
they went ahead to pour acid on her. She was left with 70 percent burns. Sonali, who was
just 17 years old at the time, was forced to endure more than 28 different surgical
procedures as medical personnel battled to limit the damage the acid had done to her
skin in the 2003 attack which left her blind and disfigured. She spent much of the next
decade hiding in her parents’ home. Her father Chandidas Mukherjee, 58, spent 1.5
million rupees on her treatment though he only earned about 5,000 (£50) rupees a
month. He had to sell the family land, cattle, and jewellery. He also used their savings
and took loans to pay the huge medical fees.
29-year-old Electrical engineer Chittaranjan Tiwari clapped his eyes on his wife for the
first time in 2013 while watching a TV crime programme. He searched for her mobile
phone number and got in touch with her. After a period of getting to know each other
they decided to tie the knot. Sonali said: “I never believed marriage would happen to me.
I was building myself up for a life time alone. I have spent the last ten years building my
strength and independence but this is a dream come true.”
True love is built on inner beauty. True love is unconditional. True love is only found in
Christ. Many of the school love and campus relationship soon hit the rock because it is
not founded on Christ. A man who truly loves you will marry you not minding your
weaknesses and deficiencies. What are your own criteria for relationship?
