Scripture Reading: 1 Cor.12:8-10.

Memory verse for the week:   1 Sam 3:4

“The voice of the Lord said Samuel’s name; and he said, Here am I.” (BBE)

We shall consider the Vocal/Inspirational gifts; the second group of the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to our Bible reference of today.

1.    The gift of diverse of tongues.

This is simply the Holy Spirit giving you the supernatural ability to speak in a foreign tongue that you have no knowledge or ability to speak out on your own. This could serve as your own personal prayer language as you communicate in mysteries with the Lord. Romans 8:14, 1 Cor. 14:2.

At other times, the Holy Spirit could use this gifting to demonstrate His presence and power in a place. e.g. a brother who never spoke French went to a Francophone country to minister. Suddenly, the Holy Ghost fell upon him and he began to minister in French.

• The gift of interpreting tongues.

This is where the Holy Spirit will give you the interpretation of the tongues that you have either done for yourself or when they are being done by someone else in a church setting. 1 Cor.14:27-28, 13-14

• The gift of prophecy

 The Greek word translated “prophesying” or “prophecy” means to “speak forth” or ‘declare the will of God’, ‘to interpret the purposes of God’, or ‘to make known in any way the truth of God which is designed to influence people’. It is being able to proclaim a message from God. The gift of prophecy is at work when you get a direct Word from the Lord  a particular person or the Church in a language they can understand. 1Cor.14:4, 1 Thes. 5:19-21.

ACTION WORD: GOD IS STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF RAISING ORACLES.

PRAYER POINT:

1. Grace to speak forth the mind of Christ to individuals, groups, church and nations; come upon my life, in the name of Jesus.

2. I shall not misuse the gifts of Holy Spirit in my life in Jesus name.
