Memory Verse: “Phinehas son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron the priest has turned my anger away from the Israelites by being as zealous among them as I was. So I stopped destroying all Israel as I had intended to do in my zealous anger. Numbers 25:11(NLT)

What are you doing for God in this assembly? Uncle Kola, Bintu’s Sunday school teacher asked. Bintu laughed sarcastically, waving off the question.

I feel sorry for many who aren’t working for God but expect God to work for them. Many are daily looking at the hand of God forgetting to look into his heart. The hand of God talks about what God can give but his face expresses his innermost feelings. What do you think of a Father who pays your school fees while you do nothing to show appreciation either in cash or in kind. Of course, he isn’t going to be happy with you and may shift his attention to another who is grateful and faithfully serves Him.

Why is it so hard to join a group where you can use your talent to serve Him who gave it to you? You join the choir if you can sing, the ICT department if you’re computer inclined, or the drama group if you can act and the ushering department, Bible study unit, etc. A wise man once said, “Commitment is a show of loyalty”. Do you know? Frank Edwards discovered he could sing and play instruments as he became committed to the work of God. He went to Church every day with his mum in his teenage years and today, God has made him a super star. Working for God opens you up to your hidden potentials.

Quote: Those who work for God provoke God to work for them.

Prophetic Word: Receive an unquenchable thirst for the work of God in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

  1. I terminate every physical and spiritual power killing my zeal, in Jesus name.
  2. Holy Spirit, reignite my passion for an effective work with God, in the name of Jesus.
  3. I reject the love for the world, I embrace the work of God, in Jesus name.
  4. Like Phinehas, I receive passion to keep the flag of the gospel ever flying, in Jesus name.
  5. I cast out every spirit behind spiritual lukewarmness in my life, in Jesus name.
