Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 1227

Memory VerseIn fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. 1 Corinthians 12:22 (NLT)

Ella wanted to sew a cloth but the sewing machine had just developed a fault with a screw. She thought this particular screw was in the wrong hole and she tried screwing it into the supposedly right hole. After about an hour of trying to fix the screw, she returned the tiny screw to the previous hole but that too proved difficult. Frustrated and exhausted, she called for help. The machine repairer made her realise that the hole she was trying to place the screw had no rings hence can’t fit in. Again, the tiny screw wouldn’t enter its original hole until it is placed at a certain angle.

Lessons:

1. Man can be likened to the screw and its original hole could be likened to God’s perfect will for his life. We are made to fit perfectly into God’s will. When we step out of God’s will, we become useless (both to ourself and to God); and when we try to fit into our own will, it only yields frustration. To find purpose, joy and fulfilment, we must surrender our will to God and allow Him position us at the centre of His will. “The greatest problem to the will of God is the will of Man”.

2. As tiny as the screw was, because it was out of its place, the big sewing machine couldn’t function. Dearly beloved, never think you are irrelevant just because you aren’t in the limelight or because no one sees what you are doing. The screw that holds the needle is equally as important as the needle itself. You are precious and of great value to God. Even if the world does not know you, Jesus does.

3. A word of caution: Never think you are too important to be replaced. Had the screw fallen off or got missing, another screw could have replaced it.

4. You don’t need to get to the point of frustration should you notice that your screw isn’t in its perfect place i.e. your life is in disarray. Talk to God your heavenly Father today. He’s available 24/7.
