Bible Reading:  Proverbs 22:6

Memory Verse:  Discipline your children and you can always be proud of them. They will never give you reason to be ashamed. Proverbs 29:17 (GNT)

Faith Benjamin is a Parent Coach and Child Development Advocate. She said in order to raise children who will not struggle for opportunities in life and who will stand out positively, we need to teach:

1. Moderation: Moderation is not self-denial. It is the ability to enjoy without excess, stop without being forced, and choose balance over impulse. A child with moderation can enjoy treats without obsession, use screens without addiction, express emotions without extremes, and want things without entitlement. ‎Children must be taught to avoid excesses, it will save them from debt and troubles in future.

2. Motivation: Children must be taught to learn to act without being pushed or threatened. True motivation is internal. ‎It’s the desire to try, persist, and improve even when no one is forcing or watching. ‎A motivated child tries without being begged, finishes tasks even when hard, believes effort matters, and doesn’t give up at the first failure. Teach them to be their own No 1 fan. The world is filled with demotivators and naysayers, so they must learn to motivate themselves.

3. Mental Strength: Mental strength is not hardness or silence; it’s the ability to cope, adapt, and recover without losing self-worth. ‎A mentally strong child can handle disappointment without breaking down, try again after failure, manage stress and emotions, believe “I can” instead of “I can’t”. Life is filled with so many challenges, and ups and downs, you need to teach them to be resilient, it will help children bounce back from failures in life

4. Mistake Ownership: Admitting mistakes encourages accountability. Teach them to learn from it and fail forward, instead of wallowing in shame, blame and self-pity, that leads people nowhere.

QuoteIt’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men – Frederick Douglass.

Prophetic Decree:  Any investment of Satan in the lives of my children waiting in their future is cancelled, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Spirit of moderation, possess my children, in Jesus name.

2. Holy Spirit, please help my children to be internally motivated, in Jesus name.

3. Holy Spirit, empower, enfire, and engrace my children, in Jesus name.

4. Holy Spirit, empower my children to be mentally strong and resilient, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Spirit, please help my children to admit their mistakes, in Jesus name.
