THREE THINGS YOU MUST CONQUER

Bible Reading: Romans 12:1–2, 1 Corinthians 9:27

Memory VerseBut I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27

Life is not just about what you achieve, it’s about what you master. Before God can trust you with influence, impact, or increase, He watches how well you can govern yourself. It was Apostle Arome Osayi who said: “The first thing that a young adult must be exposed to is mastery over appetite. You must learn how to swim against the tide by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not something you can do unconsciously. It is a determination. It is deliberate.” There are three key appetites every believer must learn to conquer: sleep, hunger, and fleshly desires.

First is sleep. Sleep is good, but when it controls you, it becomes a limitation. There are moments when your spirit needs to rise, but your body says, “Rest.” Growth begins the day you can say, “No, I will seek God anyway.” Sometimes, it means waking up earlier or stretching yourself in prayer when it’s inconvenient. Victory starts with small disciplines. If you are not swimming against the tide, it means you are not making any progress in the area of transformation. You must have a routine

Second is hunger. Hunger is powerful—it can influence your mood, decisions, and focus. But fasting teaches you something deep: you are not a slave to your body. When you can deny yourself food for a season, you train your spirit to take the lead. You begin to realize that your body is not in charge—your spirit is.

Third is fleshly desires (including sexual desires and what you feed your eyes). These are often the strongest battles because they are tied to pleasure and emotions. But mastery here is critical. When you can say, “I will not look at this,” or “I will not give in to this urge,” you step into a new level of authority over your life.

The truth is simple: if you cannot say no to yourself, you will struggle to say yes to God consistentlyEvery appetite you conquer increases your spiritual strength. Every small victory builds capacity for bigger assignments. “Many temptations that come your way will be tied to your appetite. You are not ready for real life if you don’t master your appetite, because sin takes advantage of it. Anytime the Holy Spirit wants you to do something, the nature of sin can rise through an appetite to counter the instruction of the Holy Spirit, and you may find yourself unfit to carry out divine assignments.” Hence, you must ensure you discipline yourself daily. God is looking for disciplined people who are growing daily.

Assignment: Make up your mind to double your prayer time in this season.

Quote:  Self-mastery is the foundation of spiritual authority.

Prophetic Decree: I receive grace to master my appetites, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Lord, give me strength to discipline my body and mind.

2. My Father, please help me to overcome laziness and spiritual inconsistency.

3. Holy Spirit, please empower me to say no to every wrong desire, in Jesus name.

4. Holy Spirit, empower my spirit to grow stronger than my flesh daily, in Jesus name.

5. Prophesy: I walk in discipline, strength, and victory daily, in Jesus’ name. My spirit is in control, and my body is subject to the will of God, in Jesus name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Jeremiah 30-31
