Please sing the hymn, “Faith of our Fathers” on page 104. Yes, Jesus has come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly (John 10:10b). There comes a time in the life of a Christian when his faith in God shall be tested. Why? The coming weight of glory is dependent on such test…

PARTAKERS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS

In conclusion of yesterday’s testimony, Pastor Cordeiro asked the 22 Chinese Christian leaders who came for the ministerial training and retreat how he could pray for them. One man responded that he wanted to be free to worship: “Could you pray that one day we could just be like you?…

LIFE IS A CLASS OF ONE

As humans, we tend to compare ourselves with another. Be blessed by this write up I stumbled on: “I was privileged to attend the wedding of the daughter of a good friend and former classmate in the College. As I sat as part of the guests at the reception listening to the proud MOB (Mother of The Bride) giving her speech, I reflected on how far we’ve come as former classmates in school…

MODERN DAY CHURCH: WE NEED REVIVAL AND NOT ENTERTAINMENT

Revival has sparked time and again all over the world. In America, there was the Great Awakening of 1734 -1743, the second Great Awakening 1800- 1840, the Businessmen’s Revival of 1857-1858, the Azusa Street Revival of 1906, etc. Notable revival in Nigeria is the Apostle Babalola’s revival…

DO YOU FEEL INSULTED OR IMPACTED?

Your attitude towards God’s anointed will ultimately determine what the anointing will do for you. Sometimes, the person that will bless you may be the same person that may initially insult you. Live above such insults. Keep your gaze on the anointing of God upon his life which you covet. This typifies what happened to the Syrophoenician woman in our Bible reading of today…

THE MINISTRY OF INTERCESSION

Should you gather ten believers together at random asking them what they would like to do for Jesus, many will want to be another Kenneth E. Hagin, Daddy E.A. Adeboye, Apostle Ayo Babalola, etc. While this may not be a bad ambition, unfortunately, no one chooses destiny…

DANIEL NASH: THE GREAT CHARLES FINNEY’S INTERCESSOR

Daniel Nash (1775-1831) served as Charles Finney’s personnel intercessor. He was key to the revival that followed Finney’s ministry. His life is a representation of the power of prayer. When God would direct where a meeting was to be held, Daniel Nash would slip quietly into the town and seek…

THE DILEMMA OF A DEGREE HOLDER

Please don’t get me wrong. Go for a bachelor’s degree if you can. Go for as many certifications as possible if need be. Formal education broadens your mind. However, being financially stable in this changing world goes beyond having a degree from a University. Consider this:…

A LETTER TO YOUTH

A Professor has written a letter to many youths. He said: Keep your degree certificate in a safe custody for future opportunities and engage your entrepreneurial skills, otherwise you may die poor. Most educated people in Nigeria he said are poor. Majority of the educated earn less than…

EMMANUEL TULOE: THE 18-YEAR-OLD HONEST BIKE RIDER

It was William Shakespeare who said, “Honesty is the best policy. If I lose mine honor, I lose myself.” When your children take sweet from your bag, soft drink from the fridge, money from your drawer, etc, without adequate permission, you unconsciously program them for a life time of dishonesty. “Honesty is of God and dishonesty of the devil; the devil was a liar from the beginning” so says Joseph B. Wirthlin. Thomas Jefferson opined, “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom”. A Yiddish proverb says, “A half truth is a whole lie.” Emmanuel Tuloe is the name of an 18-year-old school dropout who makes a living as a bike rider. The young adult found $50,000 (#20,543,500) on the road and returned it. He found the money wrapped in a plastic bag on the highway. Emmanuel said he was afraid because it was plenty so he took it home to his aunty until the owner asked for it. He was said to have been showered with gifts by the owner of the huge sum who happened to be a businesswoman. The story of his honesty went viral and got to the hearing of the President of Liberia, Mr George Weah who also rewarded Emmanuel handsomely. President Weah gifted the young man $10,000 (#4,119,000). In addition, Emmanuel was offered scholarship up to master’s level to study in any Liberian institution of his choice, he was given two motorcycles, and a chance to work in the President’s office. Speaking in a meeting with the honest lad, the president also announced plans to bestow on Emmanuel one of Liberia’s Highest Orders of Distinction while affirming that the scholarship will continue whether he remains in power or not. “This scholarship is personal from me and my family, and will be valid whether or not I am President of Liberia,” the President said. Train your children to be honest in their dealings no matter their condition. Be honest in plenty and in poverty. God gave Emmanuel a little test, he passed, and it created a future as well as a fortune for Him. No matter how bad a people are, there is still a remnant who will not bow down to Baal or Babylon. Will you pass the honesty test?…

WISDOM NOTES

1. On posterity: We must shift our thinking away from short-term gain toward long-term investment and sustainability, and always have the next generation in mind with every decision we make – Deb Haaland….
